Massage Therapy for All Bodies

FAQs

Here is a list of commonly asked questions and answers. If you need more information, contact me.

I have heard that Monkey Pox is transmitted by close, skin-to-skin contact. How are you assuring safety for massage?

  • Until I am able to be vaccinated, I am gloving up with nitrile gloves while performing massage.
  • I am checking in with all clients about any new or undiagnosed rashes.
  • IF YOU HAVE A NEW AND/OR UNDIAGNOSED RASH or PUSTULES, fever, or notice swollen lymph nodes, please reschedule massage until you have either 1. a confirmed diagnosis that the rash is not communicable, or 2. a doctor's release that your rash has fully healed and is no longer communicable.
  • I will reschedule any massages if I find I am exposed.
  • I sanitize the whole space at the beginning of the massage day, between clients, and at the end of the massage day.
  • All linens, towels, clothing, etc. are fresh for each client and fully washed/sanitized using hypoallergenic laundry soap between each massage day.
  • I am still observing physical distancing from the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is gender affirmative and body positive care?

For massage to have full therapeutic potential, it's important that you can ratchet down your nervous system. Trust is critical. If you're having to manage a so-called blind spot/filter around body and gender acceptance, that is a direct barrier to successful care.

Your massage is your massage alone and I want you to be able to relax to encourage muscle and tension release, mind/body integration, and wellness. I am ready to listen and work with you to create the best massage. Find out more about what contributes to your best massage experience here.

How are you dealing with the coronavirus pandemic?

The following measures provide a safer environment (including what I'm doing as well as what you will do):

  • I've been fully vaccinated and double boosted. Second booster February, 2022.
  • A maximum of three (3) massage spots are available daily including 60 minutes between clients for complete sanitization and recovery time.
  • I sanitize the whole space at the beginning of the massage day, between clients, and at the end of the massage day.
  • All linens, towels, clothing, etc. are fresh for each client and fully washed/sanitized using hypoallergenic laundry soap between each massage day.
  • You may enter the building no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time. This ensures no clients are waiting in the public areas.
  • We wear masks at all times in the Gotham Wellness Center.
  • Stop at the bathroom just past the waiting area and wash your hands before coming to my massage studio.
  • At my door, I take your temperature with an infrared no-touch thermometer and ask pre-screening questions.
  • Using the convenient bench outside my studio door, please remove your outside shoes and leave them under the bench on the shoe mat. I provide freshly cleaned, individually bagged spa slippers for each client to wear in the studio. We don't wear street shoes in the massage studio itself.
  • Gotham Wellness Center tests all of the building air exchanges to insure they're equipped with appropriate HEPA filtering and that the air exchange system is functioning at its optimum.
  • My studio has a Consumer's-Reports-rated air purifier recommended specifically for Coronavirus to purify the air during your massage.
  • During the massage, we both wear masks.

Where is your massage studio located?

My studio is located in the Gotham Wellness Center at 2262 N Albina Ave. It's at the intersection of N. Albina and N. Interstate. My studio is in Ste 124, just on the other side of the building's waiting area.

There is a door code for building entrance which you will receive when you've made an appointment.

Where is Suite 124?

Once inside the building, there's a branch off the main corridor, about halfway down. Take that branch and cross the waiting area, past the bathroom on the left (where you'll stop and wash your hands), down the short distance to the back corridor on the right. My studio is at the end of that short corridor, behind the room divider. Follow the signs for "Dara Bryant, LMT 18267, Suite 124" to the back corner.

How do I get there?

If driving, it's near the Widmer Brewery, McMenamins White Eagle Saloon and Brewery, Lyft offices, and the City of Portland Water Bureau offices. The Gotham Wellness Center entrance is right next door to Broder Nord.

If using public transportation, use either the MAX yellow line to the Albina Ave stop, or bus line 35 to the N Intestate & Albina stop.

Check out the Location page for specific directions.

Where can I park?

There is sufficient street parking surrounding the building. Please do not park in the Gotham Building parking lot, as it is designated only for employees who work in the building. Parking is free.

Is your massage studio accessible?

The level on which my studio is located doesn't have any stairs, and the hallways are wide. The front entrance has had a second door recently installed which makes it a bit tricky. There is a threshold for the front door and unfortunately there isn't an accessibility button. If you're using a mobility device, you can text me at 503.896.7997 when you're about to be at the front door (for example, about to get out of your car), and I can meet you at the door to assist. There is a slight incline between the bathroom and my studio, but it's much gentler than ADA regulations. The bathroom is accessible, large, and has rails. There is room outside my studio, and also tucked away in privacy, to park a chair, or you can bring it inside my studio. All of the floors are smooth with vinyl flooring; there are no carpets. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me either at the phone number above, by emailing radclyff@gmail.com, or at this link. If it provides an extra measure of ease, I offer a number of clothed massage modalities as well as chair massage.

How do I make an appointment?

You can text me at 503.896.7997 or email me at radclyff@gmail.com. You can also contact me here. I'm not doing online booking for safety reasons.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please give at least 24 hours prior notice. Of course, if you have an emergency, let me know as soon as you are able. No shows and late cancellations without emergency conditions will be invoiced at $40/missed session.

What should I wear?

Relaxation, myofascial, and deep tissue modalities are usually performed directly on skin using an oil or lotion. For both privacy and warmth, you will be covered with a sheet and blanket for the whole session, only undraping the area of the body that is being worked on at that moment. For these modalities, you will disrobe to your level of comfort and get on the massage table between the sheets while I'm out of the office. I will knock and wait for your answer before reentering. At the end of the session, you will be left in privacy to get off the table and get dressed before opening the door to signal you're ready to leave and it's okay for me to reenter.

Even if you want deep tissue work, you can choose to be fully clothed in your session. Craniosacral therapy and polarity are also performed with the client fully clothed. For fully clothed sessions, wear soft, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, such as yoga or gym clothing.

What kind of massage do you perform?

You can find a full list of my modalities with descriptions here. I hope to have the addition of video and pictures soon.

What kinds of massage oils/lotions do you use?

I primarily use grapeseed oil as it is naturally hypoallergenic. Occasionally, I offer an arnica oil, however it is not always available.

What does a massage cost and how long are the appointments?

Basic Massage Session:

  • $100 / 60-minute session
  • $140 / 90-minute session

Hot Stone Massage Session AVAILABLE AGAIN OCTOBER 2022 (suspended for the summer)!!

  • $120 / 60-minute session
  • $180 / 90-minute session

When booking a hot stone session, please indicate HOT STONE appointment, due to additional set up time, heating, and cleaning. Hot stone massage is similar to deep tissue and relaxation massage, except that the main tools are hot stones, instead of hands. Read more about this modality on this page.

If you need a financial accommodation, please contact me. I offer a few sessions at sliding scale rates, especially to those who are un- or under-employed.

How can I pay?

I accept CASH, Check, Paypal (radclyff@gmail.com), Venmo (@Dara-Bryant), or CashApp ($radclyff). Payment is due at the end of service.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes, I do! You can contact me here to get one.

What are your hours?

My private practice is active Tuesdays through Sundays, with appointment start times available between noon and 7 pm.

How can I ask further questions?

I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Please use the contact link here, text me at 503.896.7997, or email me at radclyff@gmail.com.
